Probably because the discs were massive, could only hold 60 minutes per side, and I imagine price was an issue. VHS was more convenient due to it being more widely available.

I feel like DVD caught on primarily because of extra features. People felt like the DVD was the must version of a movie.


Ya as a kid I didnt realize dvd had better audio/video, I just thought it was cool cuz u didnt have to rewind them and they had a menu so u could skip previews and the behind the scene/deleted scenes
