Since when are we talking about "THE face of gaming"? We're talking about which franchise is currently the most popular and that's Call of Duty. And we're using revenues to come to a conclusion because that's probably the most objective way of comparing something's success. Mario is big but not Call of Duty big. Call of Duty's popularity may or may not fade with time (depending on how the franchise is handled in the future) but it undeniably influenced a whole generation that will in many case remember it more than Mario. Let the future tell the truth. And considering that the CoD series is on Nintendo consoles too I don't see why praising its success is going against Nintendo... I don't even know why Nintendo was brought in a PS3 sales discussion anyway. |

not even close
hell even on youtube mario has more videos and views than any cod video on youtube. Ask anyone what mario is and they will know.
Mario is something everyone grew up with. Mario kart alone sold 33 million, which is far more than any call of duty game ever.
Mario will never die out. Call of duty will get stale really soon and we even see battlefield gaining more attention and with gta v there is no place but down for call of duty.
Also the revenue excuse is bs. Mario sells more in a year than call of duty does. No one gives a shit about revenue except corps. We are talking about which is a bigger more popular franchise and COD is not that. GTA, Mario, Pokemon have bigger gaming cultures than does call of duty PERIOD.
