| tontus said: I guarantee that God of War: Ascension is doing much better than Vgchartz's estimates and is well ahead of Gears of War: Judgment. The figures for the USA don't make any sense with the bundles, promotions, high position on online bestseller lists in Walmart/Gamestop/Target/Amazon/BestBuy etc. Also Vgchartz assumes that because it's not doing very well in the UK then it isn't doing well in Europe overall, which is bollocks. GoW3 may have been a lot more popular in the UK than GoW:A but it wasn't insanely popular there and so Vgchartz estimated that it only sold 1.1m in Europe when Sony announced it was actually at 2m in EU (yes sell-in, but when a game's been out for 2+ years the deference between sell-in and sell-through is negligible). I believe the same thing is happening with God of War: Ascension ant it's doing a lot better than Vgchart's estimates suggest. There was no hype for Gears:J, no bundles, no great promotions and it's doing nowhere near as well in the bestsellers lists on all the big retailers sites. NPD will prove me right for US sales but we'll only know the absolute truth about Europe when Sony announce official figures. |
This is probably the most perfect post I have read in this thread. I'm not sure about Europe but I'm sure its undertracked in USA for sure considering how well its performing in big retailers. But even then 600k in its first month in the U.S.A. isn't bad at all. But if VGC sales are true then it will be a huge dissapointment considering God of War III sold 1.1 million in its first month despite having heavy competition from Pokemon, Battlefield, and Final Fantasy all of which had more hype than God of War III but none could sell as much.
