Halo has had stronger prequels than many other IPs. This is a fact!

I mean ODST, Reach, and Wars! All awesome.

ODST isn't a prequel and Halo: Wars was nothing special, sales-wise, for a Halo game (though it was for an RTS). Outside of that, Reach is the best example, but still didn't launch at the end of the gen, has a MUCH bigger following than either Gears or GoW, and saw more marketing than the both of them combined.

That's an apples-to-oranges comparison.

ODST took place during Halo 2's campaign but was released after Halo 3. Halo Wars was a great RTS, respectable sales for the genre. Reach is the best example, but the others are still valid.

I'm just saying... Halo knows how to handle a prequel.

It's still an apples-to-oranges comparison, but oh well.

Not really.  Halo has been successful regardless of prequel, without main character, genre, etc  Where as not every game can do that which includes GoW and Gears.    ALthough both will sell great in the end it just shows you how successful Halo really is.  And even if Gears and GoW would have got a lot of ads they still would not have been as good critically.

But, not a God of War nor Gears has not been successful thus far. Halo's also never been tested like the two of them were (never had a prequel released at the end of gen with minmial marketing, in Gear's case), for instance. Thus, the comparison is grasping at best.

I know people are blaming the end of the gen but i think that is a complete bs excuse (Not mad here). If that was the case then Halo 4 wouldn't be at 8.07m already or how about Call of duty black Ops 2 which has already sold 21m on PS3/360.  Even assassin's Creed III is killing the numbers.

The main reason these games are not selling as well is because they are not as good as the previous games in the series, stale gameplay, and the stories was unappealing for both.  I mean really what else was there to tell with Kratos?  And  i dont think people care about Bairds story either.  They are still both selling well but when I said months ago that neither one would  break 4m and I was skeptical of them reaching 3 million people said i was wrong.

I will say congrats to both for doing well for spinoffs and prequels but other than that I don't think there is some story to not being as successful as the previous installments.
