The only way Sony can penetrate the US market is if it can get it can build it's reputation up prior to the PS4 release through other markets e.g. TV and, more essentially, the smart phone market.
If Sony can get the same reputation, or at least similar, to that of Samsung prior to the PS4 release, they may then stand a chance of putting up a good fight in the US.
