Let me get this straight.

A guy jokes with a buddy on twitter.

Fanboys go ape shit.

He explains it was in jest.

Fanboys continue to go ape shit.

He get's fired because fanboys went ape shit.

Fanboys will continue to go ape shit.

His life and the world would be a lot better if everyone would just ignore stupid fanboys and their stupid fanboy rants.

It's not that simple. You can't jsut joke with your buddy on twitter, when you have such an important job. A friend of mine who's a vet told me that her employer asked her to remove some pics she had on facebook where she seemed kind of drunk having fun, because future clients could look her up and lose confidence in her skills (as she if she has a shot of tequila every time she's about to operate on a dog). It may be unfortunate, but that's how it works in the real world. He should have known better.

Similarly, I heard that a cheerleader  (or whatever the girls who perform during breaks at superbowl) was fired for having a picture of facebook dressed up as black (nothing extreme) for haloween (at least that's how I recall the story).

Blame the "fanboys" all you want, but at some point you need to consider the possibility that he was being unprofessional.

And a general comment about people losing their jobs and how bad it is for their families. How about the people that never get a job? Don't they deserve a chance? Someone else will get his job who may also have a family or whatever.
