Put it this way, in Gears 1, it wasn't about the prettiest weapon, armor, or ribbons. It was all about raw, competitive game-play. Calling it "merely nostalgia" is a cop out. It worked, despite its problems. In fact, all three games had their issues, but the freshness of the series was lost in the fray of its sequels. Not to say nothing good came from Gears 2 or 3, but they also divided a lot of the franchise's veteran fans, which is unfortunate. Now, all that considered, I don't think Gears 3 gets a lot of the credit it deserves. It was much more like the original than Gears 2, particularly with the return of the wall-bounce, faster Gnasher, and speed of the combat. |
I agree. I for one like Gears 1 the most but I dont think i could ever go back to it again and play which is why i say idk if it is nostalgia or not.
