Of course they wanted the Wii to fail, because it required them to change their business practices and actually be creative. It caused them to "think" outside of the box for once and also suggested that many companies hault their projects on the, then thought to dominate, PS3 and 360, and/or pick up an additional project for the Wii. Many STILL want the Wii to fail for these reasons. I don't think some developers will even know what really is happening till the end of this generation when the numbers are too high to ignore.
