I was talking with some guy who was helping me get platinum the other day and he said if they put in an easy mode it would ruin the game and a bunch of fans were signing up to boycott it. I really don't get that. If you beat it on hard there should be a trophy for that just like with most games. The other person will have no bragging rights if they don't have the trophy and as long as the online communities are kept separate your hardcore experience will be unaffected. Any Demon/Dark Souls fans disagree and why?
