I think the "next gen or Wii U" phrasing is just to separate what is out now and what has yet to be launched. I don't think it's saying that the Wii U doesn't belong with the PS4 or 720. Besides, the whole debate about which generation a console belongs to is kind of meaningless. It's an arbitrary tag that carries very little actual relevance. Most people couldn't care less about 7th gen or 8th gen or whatever.

As far as Deep Silver goes, I think they're saying most of their titles wouldn't sell very well on the Wii U so they're going to avoid it unless there are signs of change. Probably as simple as that.
