Well as the title already says. I´d like to know if games which are financed via Kickstarter or other funding sites considered indie.
Broad Definition of Indie Games: "Indie games are developed by individuals, small teams, or small independent companies. And, typically, indie games are smaller than mainstream titles. Indie game developers are generally not financially backed by publishers and usually have little to no budget available."

A kickstarter game is obviously not financed by a publisher. But most of the projects aren´t financed by the developer either, but by a third party, for example Broken Age the Double fine adventure. And Chris Roberts´ Star Citizen doesn´t seem to be smaller in scale then mainstream games. So are these games still indie games or just common downloadable games like Mark of the Ninja
