Really depends on your perspective i guess. Acting first generally means you are quicker on the draw... so for example, acting first would be a huge advantage in most videogames.
This is espiecally true if you are great at thinking on the fly and adapting to changes quickly. i often find i'll perform in certain circumstances better if i just do it on the fly. Though i do have to force myself to do so.
Generally science actually tends to show the smarter you are and more you think about stuff the more likely you are to make goofy logic mistakes when asked "Trick" questions.
