Is the Wii U less powerful than a seventh generation console?

Umm....this has me worried.

I got on ebay and bought LoZ: Wand of Gamelon, but it won't play in my Wii U. I was really excited to finally play it too. Is the Wii U not even more powerful than 4th gen....or did I get suckered into buying a faulty game?
