Well, i've abandoned complete rathian armor, i did what i think Famousringo recommended earlier and did a rathian set with barroth chest. I can make up the missing slots with decorations (the vambraces have two slots)
Another bonus to this version of the game is a Volcano Harvest Tour for the Marina side. Pretty sure Tri didn't have that, which is why we were always going on that Uroktor killing quest.
Edit: i think i'll try figuring out what charm table i'm in tomorrow.
I have to wonder how in the hell those Japanese players figured that out. That would be a long-ass research project, and why should the fish-lady have anything to do with it?
