I believe that "convince" or "moneyhat" would be a better term here. LOL at the thought that Sony is in the position to "make" an independent company do anything.
Plus, and you should know that I have financially backed both this and Grim Dawn, this game will not be designed to be a MODERN mass market game. This is a REAL RPG (not Final Fantasy, Diablo, Zelda or any of those*). If Planescape: Torment is anything to go by, there will be actual role playing involved, voluminous choices that matter right down to almost every encounter, and swift consequences for each decison - not the pathetic 2 or 3 endings (only one of them "good") that most "RPG's" have today. Unfortunately, much as inXile did with Wasteland, with all of the branching dialogue, there will be text only for most of it (not voice acting). I fear that this will turn off many mass market "hardcore gamers" who have come to expect the full multimedia experience. Think about how much people complain about Zelda not having voices, and then imagine how much more text there will be to read in Numenera. Wasteland and Numenera will be niche games (as they should be). I don't know if inXile will find much profit in porting it to PS4 or Nextbox (though with the system architecture being so similar to PC, who knows").
I have to admit, I would be ecstatic if there was full voice acting in the game, but I just don't see it happening.
* I've enjoyed all of those series, so this is not a slam... but they are NOT RPG's. They are action or adventure games with fantasy elements and the occaisional RPG trope thrown in so that they can claim to be RPG's (except Zelda which never really does).
