I think Micro could have simply added to the message they sent regarding that guy: "We at Micro are not contemplating the implementation of any kind of always online requirement for our products in the near future" or something. They can still come out with an Xbox that doesn't have this requirement though.

I am just saying that they could have dismissed this rumor easily by saying something without addressing the existence of that console everyone knows exists but they don't want to announce yet.
