PS4 if launched at $399

If the PS4 launches at $399 then it's DONE! They've won the generation

nope, if the ps4 wins, it won't be because of a 399 price tag.

yes it will

The PS4 is almost factually going to have the best library of games out of the big 3 overall so games wont be a problem

it's all about that price

Sorry bud, but 400 bucks is still 400 bucks, i'm sure a lot of sony fans will be happy that they don't have to fork over 600 dollars, but if the vita couldn't sell at 250 for being a psp 2.0, the ps4 won't sell at 400 for being a ps3 2.0.

Sorry bud, but 400 bucks is still 400 bucks

Yezzir! R.I.P to the competition if it happens

i'm sure a lot of sony fans will be happy that they don't have to fork over 600 dollars

you GOD DAMNED RIGHT they will

but if the vita couldn't sell at 250 for being a psp 2.0, the ps4 won't sell at 400 for being a ps3 2.0.

The Vita(psp 2.0) launched at the same price as its predecessor(PSP) which was 249.99

The PS3 launched at $599 and the PS4 would have to also launch $599 for this logic to apply

;)

Hehe, except for one key point.  The psp sold well at 250, the ps3 did not sell well at 600 but in fact didn't sell well until the price was cut to 300.  So actually I'm comparing the ps4's 400 dollar price with the ps3's 300 dollar price.

;)

And to add another point, name one console that sold well at a price above 300?  Wait, you can't?  Oh my, well, good luck with your argument:P

The psp sold well at 250, the ps3 did not sell well at 600

and that's exactly why the PS4 wont be sold at 600, derp

I'm glad we agree on something.

but in fact didn't sell well until the price was cut to 300

yea but the previous year to the $299 price cut(2009) we saw the PS3 outselling the 360 for the majority of the year(2008) when PS3 was priced at $399 and 360 priced at like $249.99(i believe). This was a PS3 that started off slow and had the image of not selling software due to starting at 600, it had the smallest library and all its games ran worse than other version. PS3 was also getting bad press EVERYWHERE at its high ass price and what not

This wont happen with PS4.

No, it won't happen, but the economy was way better back then, and I don't think 400 dollars is a price that most family's and gamers will be willing to fork over so easily.

The Wii was the new kid on the block and was selling crazy due to the motion controls and what not

very true

Wii was priced at $250 when PS3 was priced at $600 when they launched. that's a big ass $350 difference

also true

PS4 will launch a lot closer to the Wii U's price if it launches at $399.

ok, what's with all this 399 stuff, are you trying to pretend that 399 isn't 399.99 which is 400 bucks minus one penny?

I believe Ninty will cut the price of the Wii U this year to $250 making it a $150 difference(if it happens)

The xbox 360 was 400 at launch, which was a 150 dollar difference, that didn't help the xbox 360 beat the wii.

Wii U wont reach the success of the Wii..

Nope, and the ps4 won't reach the success of the ps3 BOOM!

So actually I'm comparing the ps4's 400 dollar price with the ps3's 300 dollar price.

That's not really fair because your comparing the start of PS4 to the pretty much mid lifetime of ps3. Ps3 also had its Slim version out by that time so i dont see how anyone could try to compare them that way

EXACTLY, it took a lot more than the 300 dollar price cut for the ps3 to start selling.  None of which the ps4 will have, thus making your argument that the ps4 will win with a price of 400 completely invalid.

And to add another point, name one console that sold well at a price above 300?

well?? PS3

it did well enough at that price

:)

Not compared to it's last 2 consoles it didn't:P

Software (both games and apps) will sell the system, the psv isn't selling because it literally is a psp with better graphics, the 3ds added several new features like spot pass, that changed the way we play handheld gaming and thus made it a success.  3d had nothing to do with it.  Next generation will be decided by software, end of story.  I don't care if the ps4 is 400 or 100 dollars, without the right software it will not sell.

Although if it was priced at 100 dollars it wouldn't need as much software to sell:P

and I don't think 400 dollars is a price that most family's and gamers will be willing to fork over so easily.

lol not everybody is going to buy it at $399. it just needs to START/LAUNCH at $399

Does it?  The ps3 didn't start out at 400,or 300(like the ps2/1), it started out at 600 and 3 years later cut the price in half, and had it not been for the majority of their big selling franchises appearing on the 360, the ps3 likely would have had similar sales as the ps2.

ok, what's with all this 399 stuff, are you trying to pretend that 399 isn't 399.99 which is 400 bucks minus one penny?

lmfaooooooooooooo

The xbox 360 was 400 at launch, which was a 150 dollar difference, that didn't help the xbox 360 beat the wii.

yea but the 360 doesn't sell like the ps3 so i dont know where you are going with that one

lmfao, have you never looked at the hardware chartz on vgchartz.com?  They have been within 10 million of eachother for almost their entire lifespan.

Nope, and the ps4 won't reach the success of the ps3 BOOM!

if it launches at $399, yes it will BOOM!

Wanna wager on that?

EXACTLY, it took a lot more than the 300 dollar price cut for the ps3 to start selling.  None of which the ps4 will have, thus making your argument that the ps4 will win with a price of 400 completely invalid.

How do you know the PS4 wont have a slim model? WTF LMAO

Huh?  Having a slim model won't get teh ps4 selling.....

I'm saying that it needs to LAUNCH at $399.

I know that

Not compared to it's last 2 consoles it didn't:P

lol as if the PS1 and PS2 entree prices were ever at $399

uh huh.

Software (both games and apps) will sell the system

which like i said before, PS4 is most certainly almost factually going to have the most of quality wise

How?  all of the BIG selling games except grand turismo(or Forza, I don't play racing games so i get them mixed up) have gone 3rd party and will likely be on the next-box and future steambox.  So no, they aren't factually going to have the most quality titles.

the psv isn't selling because it literally is a psp with better graphics, the 3ds added several new features like spot pass, that changed the way we play handheld gaming and thus made it a success.  3d had nothing to do with it.

I dont think spot pass made 3ds sell. I'm pretty sure it sold when it got the combination of that $80 price cut and signature Mario games. I dont own a Vita but i'm pretty sure the Vita brought something new

You don't understand, the mario games and price cut got the 3ds to "start" selling, but other apps and software sustained the sales.

Next generation will be decided by software, end of story. I don't care if the ps4 is 400 or 100 dollars, without the right software it will not sell.

which PS4 will almost factually have the newest and most of, like i said before

It arguably didn't last gen, and arguably won't next gen.

but they need to price the system right, end of story.

gamecube was priced right but didn't sell, so not end of story.
