You may think you're good at sidestepping the issue, but you're not.
I completely understand what 'line go down' means, and I'm not debating that.
Our original discussion was regarding what a 3rd console curse is. You were skeptical. We provided evidence. Now suddenly this is about Sony? I don't think so bud, that's not how discussion works. This was never a big dick contest between the console manufacturers. This is at the beginning and at the end, simply about what a third console curse is. n64 was profittable yes, but that doesn't mean it invalidates the third console curse. Was nowhere near what nes or snes or gameboy or gba or wii, and won't even sell what wiiU does either.
The fact that the line went up means nothing. If we were to take the metric as average revenues, we would have
Nintendo: 3B per console
Sony: 300m per console
MS: -150m per console
Since the n64 went below 3B, even as far down as 900m, then that's what we're talking about.
PS3 is like -3B
720 will be (predicted) -1B
get it?
I'm trying my best to elucidate this for you. It's such a simple, if not meaningless, idea that I don't understand the intransigence here. Third console curse is just kind of an interesting phenomenon, that yes, will one day be overcome.
A good metaphor would be the washington redskins presidential selection. In the past however many tens of elections, if the redskins win their home game the week before the election, then that means the incumbent will win. If they lose, then the challenger will win office.
It's a similar phenomenon in that it's not really 100% truth, or anything like that. It just is what it is, funny, and interesting. Challenging it is like saying "oh but in 2000 there was a bad ref call, so I'd say that should've been a win". Which is what you're doing, so to speak. Nevertheless, this election, the redskins lost, but the incumbent won. It's just a trivial matter, try not to think to much about it.
The third console curse exists. It's just as simple as that. It's not guaranteed, and it's totally superstition, but it's a fun phenomenon to throw around. If you don't get that, I don't know what to say. Maybe you don't understand how people interact, or something.
