Windows 8 gaining 1% per month, that's below PC replacement level assuming a 5 yearly upgrade for the kind of person who plays Steam games. Shows there is no especial demand for it.

No, it was launched in February and this hw survey shows all the types of Linux for the first time. 

But it was in response to the first post which said the others were "irrelevant".

The biggest recent trend is probably people using Intel integrated graphics more. With Haswell and Kaveri we may well see discrete graphics cards become altogether niche.
