1% of Steam users using Linux is actually huge given Steam's userbase size and Linux's total unsuitability for gaming due to the state of the graphics drivers.
Windows 8 gaining 1% per month, that's below PC replacement level assuming a 5 yearly upgrade for the kind of person who plays Steam games. Shows there is no especial demand for it.
