How hilarious is it going to be if this always-online stuff just turns out to be the same stuff our smart TV's and other things already do? The Xbox reveal is going to be hilarious either way.

So sure, always online is a no brainer if you're broadcasting your content, like TV or radio, or Onlive. But if you're still selling content on a disc which is an inherently and traditionally OFFline product then an enforced always online disc player is a pretty objectively bad idea, if you're the only guy in town doing it.

People who have Wifi pretty much have their consoles always online, because it's a pain to break the connection and re-connect. But while My PS3 is always online, I never sign in to PSN unless I'm downloading stuff off PSN, updating my trophys or playing multiplayer.
