How long will people keep calling the current generation "next generation"

Well since 2 of the 3 companies have yet to release a product I'd still call gen 8 the next gen. Also when most people are still playing on PS360 and more on Wii than WiiU I'm still calling 7th gen current. Not until a couple years in will I consider 8th gen current.
