Anyone think its time for me upgrade my RAM? Currently I have 3 2gig DDR3-1600G's.

Seeing lots of peeps with 8-12 Gigs these days with obviously faster speeds. But for just running 1 monitor with max settings for today's games with what I have still be ok for a while?

8 should be more than enough, even for taxing games. Anything over it is a bit overkill, but if you want to future-proof your rig and have money to spare, you can opt for a 16 - 32 gb config.

What would require going above 8 gigs?

But if I do upgrade I might just go 12-16 gigs.

If you want to run a lot of taxing applications such as editing tools and 3D software or computing programs. Anything other than that, barely touches the 6 gb mark.

K I just didn't know what else pushes RAM.

I know my CPU has problems with FRAPS if I make the fps too high (+24) when recording.

Was curious if RAM could be limiting anything else.

RAM hasn't really been a bottleneck in a long while, since both size and speed are relatively high in modern standards. CPU bottlenecks on the otherhand are still a very common ground. Even top line OC'ed CPUs can have bottlenecks for certain games/applications.

I've yet to have CPU problems with games.  Tho I guess the most recent game I have for my PC is just AC3, and even on max settings, that might not be much.
