The sales were big, cause the number of hardware sold was incredible. Still, I don't know a single DS owner who bought it to buy original games. Not that I know many of them, but those that I do know haven't even got a single original kart. But you're right that PSP was hit much harder than DS, maybe it's cause DS games were more kid-friendly and kids didn't care/know about/understand R4 or Acekart? They just got their parents to buy them the Pokemon game and that was it, while PSP was more targeted at core gamers, who are more capable of and interested in modding a console, since they knew what extra features they could unlock in a PSP by doing this. That could also be the reason why GTA: Chinatown Wars sold so poorly on DS - the target knew how to get it for free. It's just a guess though.
I just pray Vita never gets hacked. That would kill it in a single day. 3DS would survive just like DS did.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
