Most of you know Visceral games as creators of Godfather and Dead Space, which where undoubtly their most successful game franchises. But their most recent products Dead Space 3, Army of Two: The Devils cartell failed in any segment. To be fair Dead Space 3 was dead on arrival. According to EA it had to sell more then 5 million copies to survive.  And we all know this is not going to happen,  on top of that if was the least acclaimed installment in the Dead Space franchise. With a score of 78 on Metacritic it is far behind the first and the second game.

The other game developed by Visceral that released this year was Army of Two: The Devil´s cartel´s. Some of you might wonder: "When did this happen". Well it got released 26th of March. And you might even ask yourself where the Advertisment for this game was. I don´t know maybe the publisher forgot it was releasing in March or even this year. And as you might expect this game was not that good received with a Metascore of 57 it is on lower end of the chain. I have not had the chance to play it yet so I will keep judgement for myself. We have no sales figures for this game yet, but I think it is save to say this wont move millions. Because of the non existent hype, the rather small fanbase and the missing promotion.

So this year wasn´t filled with success for Visceral games. But keep in mind this is the studio that gave us Dantes Inferno and Godfather both games failed to meet the expectations and the studio survived it. What will the next generation of consoles bring for Visveral, or rather what will Vsceral games offer for the console cyclus? Will it be a new Intelectual Property, or a rehash of an old and long gone EA franchisce alá SSX? Or maybe the studios will be closed forever.

Here is an interesting article I´v read on Polygon about the evoutlion of UI from the Dead Space games (Dead Space 2 spoilers)
