The Intellivision was, by basic definition, 16 bit, yet the 8 bit ColecoVision absolutely blew the Intellivision out of the water, as did every other 8 bit system subsequently released up until the 16 bit Sega Genesis, the first real 16 bit system, some 9 years later. The reason most people don't know the Intellivision was 16 bit is simple. It didn't matter. The overall Intellivision hardware was a baby-step above the 3 years older Atari 2600. 70's/80's rant. Love the Intellivision though. Snafu and Utopia FTW. Oh, and the the main reason the Coleco was so much better in spite of the "bit" disparity? System RAM. Which is, 30 years later a white-hot topic among the current video game fanbase. Sunrise-Sunset. :)
