I know what you mean, although it certainly doesn't mean all games are focussing on graphics and presentation. There are still many games that focus on gameplay. It may be less than before, but still enough (all Nintendo games, Dark Souls, Bayonetta, Monster Hunter, Ni no Kuni, MGS).

I know right. Mario Galaxy 1&2 must be the highest rated games ever because they're exactly the same as Mario back on the NES.

Yeah because metacritic is the be all end all.. Sorry but nintendo are guiltier then anyone from failing to adapt. Anyone who uses metacritic as an argument automatically has none. Mario 1 and 2 do what that hasn't been done before? Please explain and not fall back on the metacritic argument. Metacritic pedanders to the masses.

 

Nintendo are incapable of getting out of the dark ages, and fail to bring gameplay and presentation to the modern times.  Games can be both beautiful and fun to play, crazy concept I know.

Do you know what Metacritic does? It brings ALL the reviews of a game together. With an average of 9,7 overall, it means you are in the minority. I've played Galaxy 1 over 7 times and part 2 4 times, just because of its simple brilliance. Not every game needs an overcomplicated story about secrets in Russia and war between them and America. Not every game needs a character with deep emotions that cries every 5 minutes like Lara Croft. Not every game needs hyperrealistisch graphics, especially not when its hurting the gameplay. That is not how Nintendo rolls.

Have you even played Mario Galaxy? That game has a new idea every 5 minutes. It's colorful, charming, beautifull and most importantly FUN.

You think I dont think its possible for a game to be both fun and beautiful? Although Mario Galaxy directly disapproves this, I'll show you two other videos:

There is a new idea every 5 minutes? LMAO name 1? And again Metacriutic means squat. That is not an argument. You cannot even name 1 innovative thing about mario galaxy, says it all.

 

So according to you rlogic sony is way better because they have more 8 and 9 rated games and less shovelware? BAck up what you say.

 

The biggest selling games right now are minecraft angry birds, yeah that alone kills op's argument. Nintendo fans are sure dillusional.
