The PS3, definitely. It's basically a symbol of Sony's arrogance and how it came back to bite them in the ass.
Rather than accommodating developer's wishes, they went with the Cell technology to pursue their own fantasy ideas. Between that, the PS2 hardware BC, and the Blu-ray drive, they ended up with a device that lost money even when sold at $600. But they were sure that people would "get a second job to buy it" and that "the next gen doesn't start until we say so."
And then what happened? It only sold half as much as the PS2 did, due to Microsoft eating their lunch in the core market while Nintendo opened up a new one with the Wii. Meanwhile, it's taken years for their own internal studios to really draw out the full scale of the Cell's power; most third-parties, meanwhile, didn't even bother, resulting in several multiplats running better on the cheaper 360.
That the PS4 looks to go in the complete opposite direction in terms of design is a brilliant strategy on Sony's part. Shame they didn't have the foresight to do that this gen.
