can't argue about the story, it's a bit bland... ..but i'm going to have to rage on you about the variety in weapons. did you not look/upgrade your elements? each of them adds moves to the blade of chaos that are amazingly useful and varied. ice breaks enemy blocks for instance. it says so right in the menu. if you are fighting enemies that block and you aren't using ice you're doing it wrong. i'm getting the feeling that those that think this game is "too hard" just expected to hit square over and over to win. add to that the 5 world weapons and the three relics in addition to the rage meter (of course) and you've got a metric fuckton of variety in your arsenal.
graphics are great imo but i will say their aren't as many epic set peices as in GoWIII. that's not really a dig on graphics though. that's a dig on level design i suppose. i have a feeling they "knew" a prequel wouldn't sell as well as a game with a "4" in it and set budget accordingly spending more time of innovating combat. i have to say though, the combat is amazing. ..for those that are able to play the game that is. |
actually, aside from ice breaking blocks, is there any other difference among the 4 elements? none. they all move at the same speed, they all do the same amount of damage, and they do pretty much the same combos with just different looks. the world weapons have so few actions it's ridiculous to consider them as "part of Kratos' arsenal. the relics are also bland, in that they do one click uses. does the amulet do anything else? no it doesn't. it has a long cooldown and you use it on one guy and you forget about it for 20 seconds.
compare that to previous god of war games where Kratos had an array of weapons that really did do different things. to name a few, the cestus from god of war 3 and the barbarian hammer from god of war 2 were completely different from the blades of chaos and they had a whole different set of move lists. aside from that, they required completely different timing and situational uses. kratos also had a bow, running boots, wings, not to mention that he had the blade of olympus itself.
so now which one has variety?
