You forget that the PS2 was on the low end of the next gen spectrum when it was released. Most people won't notice because it will still be a gen up from what they had. It will also be affordable.

My attitude is not to compare a console to PCs at the time.  My policy is look at it compared to current gen consoles and see the difference.  Hell with a company like Nintendo I look at it just compared to their own last console to see a jump.  The PS4 is a jump from PS3 so I feel perfectly justified paying $500 for it and all that awesome exclusive software coming.
