I think the reason you aren't seeing the difference as much is because Youtube compresses the videos, even at 1080p. The only way you can truly see the difference is to actually play both versions on the same tv, using the same connections. Otherwise, there are any number of factors that can alter your perception of it.
As for the lighting on the bridge pics, I do understand that DF tries to get the time of day the same, but it clearly isn't there. Just look at the length of the shadow towards the middle of the road.
