respectfully disagree, Sakaguchi let his dislike for the Sony head at the time cloud his judgement, the game would have done better as a multiplat, considering that how poorly it did in Japan, not like anyone over there bought a 360 for it, but they DO buy PS3s over there and they would have bought the game for that. It might have been a logical move for mistwalker as they got dev help from MS but i still wonder how much better would it have sold, but then it probably would have not gotten the funding so hey. I hope all the effort MS put into getting JRPGs earlier paid off, but im gonna guess it didnt. |
In my opinion, the bad move came from Microsoft. I remember seeing Japan's gaming conventions back in 2007 and Sakaguchi hyping Lost Odyssey and everyone was "Woah!". They should have made a Japan-only 360 with the Lost Odyssey logo and a Kaim art on it and then put it in every single store. Perhaps they wouldn't have won the japanese market, but that game would have been sold to hell.
I'm not denying that in the Ps3 it would have sold better, of course. But most exclusives would have sold better in the other console - or perhaps in neither -. One cannot know what the market can demand these days.
EDIT: I didn't know Sakaguchi disliked Sony. What happened?
