THe leveles released, I would assume are from a study. I just don't know which study.

@ the second pic, it wasn't meant to evidence my first argument, it was merely another cool factoid about sex and how it gets cross contaminated with something non-sexual.

Sex and food the two highest natural dopamine releasers, I would show you the study, but I took this is school a very long time ago. I'm 90% certain though that they dwarf the others non-drug induced dopamine releases.

But yeah, I understand where you are coming from. I find food and sex rather repulsive....cigarettes on the other hand... When I think of food I think of smokes, and the same with sex and cigarettes. So I understand something similar. If you look at it from an existential view, like the blanket, it makes more sense. sex, food, drugs - that's just a,b, and c. When you understand that a b and c are interchangeable, it's easier to fathom.

If you're looking for more information, sorry to say, it doesn't exist. The data shows what it shows, and if that's not good enough to help understand, the only other way is to illustrate it differently. There is no real other reason that food should link to sex, on a chemical level. Even behaviorally, the two things are quite separate things. A lot of people like to say "in the caveman days", but really, all they're doing is explaining the behavioral consequences of chemical makeup.

Ok now I can follow your thoughts better. It pretty much is my theoretical point of view on the topic. I just wanted to see if you would reference some other angles or data. I guess food and sex are the most important dopamine triggers. Still I would really like to see if thats always the case I am not so sure about that tbh. To test out the theory it would be nice to perform a PET Scan on a bunch of people doing various stuff to see if food really triggers the highest dopamine release after sex in every person or just in average.

I will never get the food sex connection myself. I also think its repulsive in a way. And I prefer a clear seperation of those things.

Smoking and food I can somewhat relate to. Drugs make me think of sex. Sex however makes me just think of sex.  And I personally can't imagine to substitute it with anything.  Especially with food. Its just not doing it for me.

Sex and drugs are a natural fit however.
