I think this may have been like a little demonstration where they played a Heavy Rain demo using a social driven online multiplayer feature that enabled choices in that Heavy Rain demo to be determined by the number of votes submitted by friends in total. Heavy Rain Demo + Friends Voting + Majority of votes = the option the game recognizes.
Seems like some feature trying to explore a gaming possibility, a social gaming possibility. I think Sony did something like this at a theater screening in Europe for Heavy Rain, I remember reading an article related to this. I can't remember the details.
