I must admit that I have never played the game, since it was released only on the X360. If it was released on the PS3 I might give it a try though.
To your question, why I do not buy a X360 just for the few JRPGs. If I buy a console I would like to use it intensely since it is plugged besides my TV set. My Wife is already bugging me because the Wii is standing besides the PS3 and I do not use it regularly (I just bought Xenoblade and the last Story and still I haven't found time to play them).
Since I do not play shooters much I can play practically all games I want on the PS3. The X360 simply offers almost no exclusives I care about (Tales of Vesperia, the Last Remnant being the only two games that made me think about an Xbox). So I would never buy Halo or Gears as much as I never bought Killzone.
So buying a console just for two games is simply a waste of money in my opinion.
