I don't understand. The developers already have the dev kits, have already made a decent amount of progress on launch games for the 720 and doubtless have an estimate as to when their games need to be out to count as launch games. Why would they care about the console announcement?
No, I think the issue is that game 'journalists' don't like not knowing things that others do.
