How so?

Technology wise? No. Games will look prettier but its not gonna change how they are made.
Market wise? Maybe. Its too early to tell and depends in great part on what the competition does.

Tech wise PS4 is a major improvment over PS2 and PS3. The move to industry standard tech means way more support, as everyone is already building games and apps for it. With PS4 software companies from all mediums can easly port over and support the system. This will mean many more patnerships for Sony, and a much more versitile system. This should be the first gen we see RTS and MMO take a major role on the consoles as well.

Moving to game development. This is going to be a major change to the way games are made. This gen has seen most high end PC devs go the way of console.  In previous gens we had already seen may new techniques, because the PC Devs had already played with the tech, this gen even Crysis 3 was built to be scalable to PS3/360. In the next couple of years we will start to see devs unlock 3 or 4 years of tech imporvments that have yet to really be touched on. In addition, with the whole industry stepping into new tech, we should see some amazing new middleware tech, and programming techniques emerge. Games 2 years from launch with be very different than anything we saw this gen.

I feel like a priest just gave me a sermon.

No, its not a revolution. Anyone who witnessed the jump from 2D to 3D on the 32 bit era and the jump from basic 3D to proper environments with the DC/PS2/Xbox/GC knows this. After that its just been prettier lighting, animations and textures.

No use preaching father, im not a faithful. I'm more the realistic type.
