All PS3s are backward compatible with PS2 software.

No... there are only two models with hardware emulation.

60GB CECHAxx and 20GB CECHBxx (sold in US only)

The 60GB CECHCxx (PAL) and 80GB CECHExx (US) have software emulation.

All the others models have no official PS2 BC.
