Any Shining game made by Camelot is a gem. They're the series creator and anything after Shining Force III and Shining the Holy Ark is garbage SEGA came up with.
I'd advise you to play the original Shining Force instead of the remake for the GBA, as it changed certain plot details that conflict with other games. Apart from that, go ahead and enjoy! :)
