Ahh I went on.

To each their own, I will agree with you that the back story to Killzone is interesting. However the events that unfold in the games, and the story which progresses during the games, is not interesting, and very generic. I mean Killzone 3 is literally you standed on Helghan and trying to leave. What plot is there?

What should I say?  That you're right and it turns out that I didn't really find Killzone fun or interesting now that I think about it?  That I detached the backstory from the game and played it with an empty mind?  That I didn't like the political backdrop provided by the glimpse into the power struggles inside the Helghast command?  Sorry, but I did.  I like the atmosphere and aesthetics of the game.

As for Gears of War, I'm not going to say if the story is good or bad--I haven't played it enough and I don't really care for the TPS genre--but the plot you described is straight Lord of the Rings and pretty standard for the fantasy genre.
