Colorado has had the name "The Rocky Mountain Empire" for some time and quit honestly the population is not high enough yet to be true.
I do not know if Colorado really is an accurate picture of the country because it is predominantly White and Hispanic. Historically it has been mostly white, but there has been a large influx of rich West Coasters and Hispanic individuals.
As far as these stances reflecting the change of the Nation is hard to say. Colorado has been leaning ffor a long time from a red state to an ever increasing blue state. All of these decisions made above are generally liberal ideas, and the only one I do not agree is the increased gun control. The mass shootings that occurred twice over the past fifteen yearshere are not likely to be stopped by the gun control legislation that was passed as it is advertised that it should do so.
That and the approval of gay and lesbian civil unions is countered by how the voters voted to define marriage as between a man and a woman about 9 years ago. But then again, the state is changing as the writer wrote himself.
Of course I approve of the legal weed and I do think California and a few other Western states are soon to follow in legalization. Obama has barely if at all remarked on the legality of Weed in Colorado and Washington so I doubt he plans on stopping it. Recently a bill was put into the house by a Colorado Senator and an Oregon senator trying to legalize the drug. I am sure it will not be passed, but it reflects the nations changing attitude towards how we deal with the drug.
Quite honestly, I do think the nation will slowly lean more liberal as Colorado has.
