If indeed true, that's one down. Now we'll just need to wait for the shitstorm from consumers, and see what PS4 is doing.

If what is true and what does "one down" mean?

This rumor, and Microsoft being an almost immediate also-ran. Imagine what Gamestop would do if a no-used-games rule were in effect, why, they'd advertise the Wii U (and maybe PS4) all by themselves and marginalize the Durango.

The market for used 360 games is huge. If Microsoft kills that, game over.

So on a rumour you just killed off a console.  You're better than that.

Only if true, as i said. It's possible that Microsoft's implementation of this will occur in a way that won't alienate anyone (or at least not too badly). Microsoft has introduced some unorthodox standards to gaming and made them quite orthodox, and some things that sounded like bad ideas turned out to be really good ideas, but we'll have to see.

By the way... you know this specific rumor in this thread doesn't actually mention the banning of used games or need to be online right?

All it's talking about is essentially is that optional wii connect always online thing more or less.

I really don't see how "mandatory installs" (especially on a console) is going to lead to anything other than "no used games," though anything's possible.

If you don't install then load times for levels could easilly be in excess of 3-4 minutes. Even a slow HDD would be nearly 3 times quicker so why would you not want it?
