Netyaroze said: Volta will have like 6-8 Tflops ? Nvidia said some time ago that in 2019 they will have 40 Tflop in a 100 Watt GPU. Thats like 3 shrinks away. Volta: 20nm xx: 16nm xxx: 10nm That 1 TB bandwith might soon be necessary and if stacked ram becomes reality we can look forward to a smaller quiter cheaper PS4. 2020-2025 Avatar realtime will hopefully become reality.

you mean PS5 :P

Nope. I mean PS4. GDDR5 is just insanely fast DDR3 with 5ghz fast bus instead of 1 ghz.
Which is why its more expensive. But its possible to replace it with stacked DDR3 which has 1024 bit instead of the 256 bit of GDDR5.
So you can lower the frequency, wattage, mainboardsize and you can start to use the cheaper GDDR5 rejects.

They won't make it in time man ^_^; AMD hasn't even shown similar designs in anyway. Maybe the next one, analysts that predict the 8th gen being the last gen are retarded because they have no idea how far ahead tech will be past the 2015 point.

I'd guess he's argueing a "slim" redesign down the line, even then though that seems highly unlikely.
Additionally I still don't get why people are calling ram with better bandwith and worse latency FASTER. (Let alone insanely fast)
Ram with worse latency is slower.
If you were going to give GDDR5 a term vs DDR3 it wouldn't be faster, it'd be stronger. It's like a truck vs a race car. The Truck is slower (Latency) but can tow more at once. (Bandwith)
