I believe it would stop us from invading foreign countries.  It would also require all citizens to be armed and trained for thier own good to prevent an invasion.   Seriously,  who's going to invade a country with 150,000,000 armed citizens.  Not to mention.  No one has ever invaded a country that has a nuclear stock pile.

Military is so much more than shooting a weapon though. Ignoring the fact you would have no able Air Force or Navy, a militia with no real organization or proper training would be slaughtered by a well trained army. Look at many different trades are employed within the Forces, each of these serve their own purpose and can't be ignored or forgotten.

The idea of arming citizens as a defence force could work in a smaller european country perhaps, but the condition the USA is in... I wouldn't trust it.

Too many races, cultures, classes, clashing together in a system that doesn't care enough for people in need, in a gun violence culture.

Obviously cut backs need to be made, but what you are talking about is far too drastic in my opinion.


It would be reckless to switch to a citizen militia overnight.  Especially with the kind of kids our public schools are producing.  My idea is part of a large philosophy that worked great in this country for a very long time.  As to being slaughtered by a well trained army.  Just tell that to my fore fathers.   for one hundred years, There was no federal tax and military spending was below 200k.  Just to clarify aswell, there would be a navy, air force, etc. America had a navy before there was an IRS.  It would be just large enough to defend our shores.  And you can have a well regulated militia of volunteers.. Just not with this generation.  You're right about the division, we would need to unite under 1 culture of personal liberty and responsibility which would create a strong middle class.
