i definitely have a problem with the term retarded being used as insults to people as now the term is mostly seen as disparaging. sometimes parents would look to have your head if your referred to their child as clinically retarded. we now would have to refer to patients as having an intellectual disability not necessarily a bad thing but it is an annoyance. but i would be lying if i said when i was a kid i never used the term retarded to insult one of my classmates
