If they wanted to implement their online social features then they should have called it SimCity Online.
But it's just called SimCity, presumably because they don't want to discourage people who don't like MMO style games from purchasing it. That's misleading.
Either that, or the online features are just a cover for online DRM.
So Maxis & EA are in the wrong either way.
