So of each console's time:
- The average Xbox 360 gamer plays more online/offline games with their time than the PS3. Wii holds highest percentage of offline gaming which makes sense since their online is far less developed.
- The average PS3 owner watches more streaming and disc based content with their time than the 360 user. Wii again very strong in this regard. That's actually quite shocking since it lacks HD support for those streaming services. But at the same time it doesn't even register for disc based usage.
One thing I see with this. The fact that the 360 has a paid online service and with the more established/smoother online gameplay offerings of multiplats makes it the majority choice for online play. Yes, I understand this is not a total time comparison between consoles. It is telling though that of each console's respected usage, the 360 owners do more gaming than their PS3 owning counterparts on average.
PS3 very strong media usage since online service is free and includes blu-ray drive.
Wii very strong in offline gaming and streaming content, but very poor in online gaming, disc based media, and download based media.
This is a US based study, which is more dominated by online play and the 360. That would definitely explain the usage differences of 360 vs PS3 in the online/offline gaming areas.
