I have played UN2. I skipped UNG since the story mode looked weak and it just seemed filler until an actual sequel came out. UN3 is definitely a worthy sequel to UN3. The character count is huge, the story mode battles are epic and much more varied. In general its just better.
The only one thing that I wished they improved more was the actual battle system. Its okay but needs more depth. I think the game is a bit too easy for a fighting game, which makes it lose out a lot of opportunity in building up a long time online following. Plus the changes they made, even though good were very minute.
