Look, either something is wrong and his images are not opening properly in my browser, or what I said is correct and you don't want to admit it.

The PS4 screenshot has vastly better lighting, way more detail and even has more stuff going on in the background with the fire/lava than the PC screenshot. The PC screenshot looks zoomed in, overly bright, and much blurrier.

So, is it an image/browser fail? Or am I missing something here?

PS4
PC

Maybe if these images were of the same resolutions we could do a much better comparison, but the PS4 is a smaller resolution and neither are even 1080p resolution screenshots! C'mon now!

Hmmm...look closely at the individual details of the PC version (texture filtering, anisotropic filtering, and depth of field all favor the PC version). It has nothing to do with resolution, either.

Take the top of that door - no texture at all on the PS4. There are only two areas where I can see, the average, person would instantly choose that version - the sharpness of the image and texture of that rock in the front (which is missing some shadowing, btw).

Besides, why would I not want to "admit" if the PS4 version was ahead? If it is, it is. But from this vantage point, it isn't.

Looking closely at low resolution screen grabs from a playing YouTube video isn't exactly going to help. That's part of my complaint.

And yes, I noticed that door frame in the PS4 version was for some reason lacking detail (a spot the average person would quickly see). However, everything else you mentioned looks better in the PS4 version. Especially in these limited small screenshots. The only other minor thing I see in the PC version that is better than the PS4 version is the snow affect and some slight fog affect in one area.

Overall, though, the PS4 version displays vastly better textures and lighting, just as good AA/AF, just as good depth. I think the fact that the PS4 version was running on unconfirmed preliminary hardware is also quite amazing. Probably explains the few flaws like the door frame having low textures/details. An optimized version with the final hardware set would look even better.

The results speak volumes of what optimized console hardware can achieve compared to much more expensive PC hardware.

EDIT: After looking at the original shots again and not my smaller ones, I will concede that the PC version looks to have better depth of field as well, currently.

Yeah, the texture thing is due to DoF, it's focusing on the character and that's why everything else seems more blurry on the PC shot, I'm glad you noticed. The lighting also doesn't look better on the PS4, it's just different stuff going on, and the PC version actually had more going so the PC version actually looks better "in motion" is basically what it came down to.
