This may be part of their war games as well. NK was pretty angry about the annual war games that SK and the States are putting on and will be continuing until the end of April. Said games were the reason why NK, along with the sanctions, started screaming about nuking the US. In turn, NK decided to hold a bunch of war games themselves and try to make it look like they were preparing for war. Shutting down their net likely could be part of it.

The thing is... North Korea doesn't have the resources to hold their own massive wargames. If the internet shutdown event was one event in a vaccum, its understandable.

However, look at the following statements/actions by North Korea:

  • They rip up the 1953 Armistice
  • Kim Jong Un visits frontline troops, and tells them to destroy the South Koreans
  • Unprecedented air training among front line troops (700 sorties yesterday)
  • Massive mobilization
  • Camoflauged netting of all public transportation
  • Full Internet shutdown

And those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. North Korea has done a lot of stupid things when they've felt "Provoked". Its never been to this level, by a long shot.

@Mr Khan - That is what I've heard as well. North Korea had a lot of flooding last year. Rumor has it that there's not enough seed to plant this year to keep their people fed. Due to the embargoes and new sanctions, there is no way North Korea can feed their people. So they're using what little they have left to mobilize and send their troops south.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
